Writings

I basically do two kinds of publishing. First, as a professor, I conduct research and write up the results for scholarly journals. Second, as a musician and teacher educator, I write “practitioner pieces,” targeted for musicians wanting to maximize their growth and teachers seeking to refine their instructional methods. It’s something of a professional crusade of mine to show that research is, in fact, very useful for improving current practices in music performance and education.

Below are samples of some recent writings of mine.
